Why Choose Crossroads
When the integrity of your home is at stake, you want to leave nothing to chance. At Crossroads, you will get outstanding work with exceptional customer service.
If you have uneven concrete surfaces, like a driveway that’s lopsided, or a bumpy sidewalk it may be due to a sunken or uneven concrete surface.
Over time, concrete can sink or settle unevenly due to soil settlement, erosion, tree roots, drainage problems, or poor compaction when the concrete was installed.
When the soil underneath your concrete changes, so will the concrete on top. Not only does this look bad and make your property look unkempt, but it’s also a serious safety hazard and liability issue.
Concrete leveling is a simple process to correct any defects in your current concrete.
What Is Concrete Leveling?
Concrete leveling, also known as “concrete raising” or “slabjacking” is a process used by our team to raise and level your current uneven concrete surfaces.
It uses a simple process that lifts the concrete from underneath, creating a stronger and more uniform surface.
Signs You Need Concrete Leveling
Several clear signs indicate concrete leveling may be necessary.
If you notice any of these on your property, it’s important to have us assess the situation and evaluate the condition of your concrete surface.
- Cracks – Small hairline cracks may not seem like a big deal, but any crack in your concrete is a sign of an underlying problem. It may be due to a tree root trying to push out the concrete above or simply due to soil erosion. It’s better not to ignore at this point, as the crack may widen and give way to safety hazards.
- Separation – Inspect the concrete joints, and check whether there’s considerable separation from the building, house, garage, or sidewalk. The more separation there is, the quicker you need to call an expert.
- Pools of Water – Look out for pools of water, particularly on the edges as they are an indication of the slabs being out of alignment. Leveled concrete will never hold water as it is designed to run off from its surface.
- Damaged Edges – Wear and tear on the edges of your sidewalk or driveway is a sign of soil erosion underneath the concrete. Though it may seem small, it may cause danger to cyclists and people who walk over them.
- Warping (Sinking Slabs) – If you notice your concrete slabs sinking in the middle or warping over the surface, it’s likely due to moisture problems within the soil underneath and may require concrete leveling.
How Does Concrete Leveling Work?
While the process of concrete leveling is seemingly simple, it is a professional service.
Concrete leveling is not a DIY project and should only be attempted by those who have the proper equipment and materials.
Our process includes three easy steps:
- Step 1 – Drill Holes – We start by creating small holes in the surface of the concrete between 1-2 inches in diameter. We strategically place the holes into the defective concrete in specific locations depending on how the slab needs to be raised and/or leveled.
- Step 2 – Pump Leveling Compound – Next, we use eco-rise polyurethane foam to fill the holes. This mixture fills any voids and quickly causes the entire concrete slab to rise to the final position. This process allows us to carefully control the lifting of the slab to achieve the perfect result without disturbing surrounding areas.
- Step 3 – Patch the Drill Holes – After we are done, the holes are filled with color-matching grout and you can enjoy a smooth concrete surface that is even stronger than it was before.
5 Benefits of Concrete Leveling
Concrete leveling technology has several benefits and is both an effective and efficient solution for any uneven concrete surfaces.
- Minimum Damage – The job is done without any significant damage to the existing concrete or its surroundings. This is much less destructive than ripping out old concrete and starting from scratch. Concrete leveling doesn’t disturb surrounding landscaping or structures.
- Cheaper Than Having It Replaced – Replacing the whole concrete work is an expensive and time-consuming process. Concrete leveling allows you to keep the concrete you have and still achieve the results you want.
- Less Possibility for Injury – An uneven driveway poses a serious safety hazard and is a liability for homeowners. Once the concrete is leveled, all those safety hazards will vanish and you have created a safe environment for family and friends.
- Better Ground Support – Concrete leveling solves the problem from the ground up. We don’t just cover up the issue, we support and create a strong and solid base you can count on.
- Quick Process – Concrete leveling is a relatively quick process and can be completed in about a day. As soon as the concrete is dry, you are safe to resume using the surface.
